Training for Businesses

We provide bespoke materials for businesses and employees, educating staff members on important topics surrounding social development and criminal justice to improve the working environment. Workplace sexual violence, most commonly sexual harassment and sexual assault, can have a devastating impact on the person that it subjected to such violence. It is vital that our employment industry provides a safe space to work in - without fear of or subjection to sexual harassment and sexual assault.

The 2020 Sexual Harassment Survey Government Equalities Office found that Overall, 29% of those in employment were subjected to some form of sexual harassment in their workplace or work-related environment in the last 12 months. 40% of victims saw their job change in some way as a result of taking action – increasing to 50% among those who reported the harassment. The most common outcome for the victim was to choose to look for a new job (17%).

What is sexual violence and what is its impact?
We will illustrate the impact that sexual violence has on those subjected to it and the importance of sufficient support from the safeguarding teams, such as appropriate emotional support.

What are rape myths and victim-blaming beliefs?
We will address different myths about sexual violence and challenge them with the reality. Rape myths and victim-blaming beliefs can have a devastating impact on whether a person reports or even identifies sexual violence, and so we hope that this encourages staff to report incidents in the workplace and beyond.

The role of consent
We will discuss various examples of what is true consent. It is important to highlight that coercion, bullying and ultimately forcing someone to send you nudes or engage in sexual activity is an offence.

The issues of pornography and revenge pornography
Here we will discuss the issues with exposure to pornography, such as unrealistic expectations of sexual activity and the correlation between pornography exposure and the commission of sexual violence. We will also cover the growing phenomena of revenge porn and its impact.

What are sexual harassment and sexual assault?
Ideally, we aim to change the culture of sexual relations within the workspace and highlight what ‘lower-level’ sexual violence is and how you can respect your colleagues whilst still developing sexual intimacy and autonomy.

What to do if you are subjected to sexual violence
Here we will provide information on what to do if you are subjected to sexual violence. We signpost a number of steps which can be taken which best suit the survivor and outline a number of support services available.
